I have been, you know, living and not writing about it. I deserve a break after 42,000 horrible words in November. Random, undeveloped thoughts: The gargantuan effort, and limited success, of fighting against biology is never more striking than after a visit with one's parents. . . . I hate to shop after the surfeit of Christmas. The catalogs never stop, though. All is right again when the gardening catalogs begin to arrive. . . . Verizon was trying to sell me more services. I briefly considered Caller ID, but I decided that if I knew who was calling, I'd hardly ever answer. I generally have a feeling of "Hope that's not for me," when I hear the telephone ring. # |
