Tuesday, August 31, 2004 ( 8/31/2004 01:25:00 PM ) DN For R. Here's the link to some pretty funny political bumper stickers. Wish I had a couple of them. glassdog: "Bumper Stickers for the Bumper Stickerless" # ( 8/31/2004 12:32:00 PM ) DN Neighborhood Activism, Redux Two recent home invasion-type crimes, the murder of a prostitute, and drug dealing on every corner have gotten the natives riled up again. My neighbor and I have revived the neighborhood assocation. The first meeting after the murder was well-attended. I knew that it would be entirely taken up with horror stories of panhandling, urinators, drug deals, prostitutes and petty theft, and so, although I helped plan the meeting (even designed a catchy flyer: Interested in SAFETY IN YOUR NEIGHBORHOOD? [duh]), pleaded an inability to sympathize & skipped it. My neigbhor reports that during the bitch session, three attendees revealed that they were carrying concealed weapons. Yes, even into the fellowship hall. One man came to say he was getting out and that he wanted to tell everyone else to move out of downtown, too! Um, you won't be joining our group, I suppose, sir? Still, we're going to try all over again to get organized & get some action. I'm not sure if we'll have better luck this time, but at least I don't feel like I'm trying to do it alone. Next meeting, we're taking back the floor, at least. It may be the only thing we can control. # Monday, August 23, 2004 ( 8/23/2004 04:17:00 PM ) DN So. Three weeks ago I tried to log in to my weblog but my ntelos service was hanging or the blogger servers were and I couldn't get in. In the frame of mind I've been in lately, I just lost interest & you know, did stuff outside of the computer for a few weeks. But today I found this: Hacking NetFlix The Crooked Timber Blog DiscussesNetflix Who knew there was psychology at work, and who knew there were weblogs about Netflix? I wonder what the record is for the most number of people sharing/using one account? In Other News We now have a puppy at home. Pictures later. Right now I'm too busy cleaning up stinky, though petite, turds from all the rugs. Pee goes on carpet or hardwood, but poop always goes on a rug. Damn those patterned rugs that hide dirt. # |
