He is with the Mountain Party, West Virginia's own third party, founded in 2000. Here is a bulleted list of their platform (taken from their website at WV Mountain Party): - Clean Air, Water and Land - Responsible mining and logging practices - Economic Fairness, including an end to corporate welfare - Small community schools and limits on busing - Universal Health Care - Campaign Finance Reform There was some concern about Ralph Nader obtaining the nomination of the Mountain Party in order to get on the ballot in West Virginia; at their convention in May, the party nominated Johnson instead. Some of the things he discussed in the State Journal interview (June 11, 2004): his single "late-night, erotic film" and the Charleston Gazette's reporting of this information; his idea for economic development through a film production industry; his pro-choice and anti-death penalty positions; and how often the media ignore third-party candidates. If you think Manchin is a shoo-in in November, and think people might be voting for him because of name recognition only, or if you just never heard of the Mountain Party, go take a look. Jesse Johnson - WV Mountain Party Here's all I could find about the blue movie, which is apparently for sale at Amazon! Sexy Politicians There are also these candidates outside of the 2 parties: Phillip Hudok (Constitution) - Teacher, 2000 State Del Candidate Simon McClure (Libertarian) - Psychiatrist, State Party Finance Chairman Frank Kula (Independent) (this info from God knows where, & completely unofficial!) # Monday, July 12, 2004 ( 7/12/2004 01:41:00 PM ) DN Parts of this weblog will be unavailable for the next several days, while I port my stuff to a new hosting service.
